BIBLE TRANSLATION
Shema (שמע) is the Hebrew word used in Deuteronomy 6 to call
all people of Israel to listen and internalize God’s words in their hearts. Internalization is a dear and familiar concept in the world of Bible translation, because mother tongue translators usually internalize a passage before translating it.
Shema is also what this channel is about. It is a space where we can listen to one another as we learn how to do Bible translation today. In YWAM, we are celebrating a growing number of translation projects through a variety of methods, all over the world. Our combined efforts have produced translations into hundreds of languages already.
Shema YWAM is about listening, honoring and learning from each other, so we can better fulfill the calling of our generation.

We are the Shema YWAM, a YouTube Channel dedicated to conversations on Bible translation. We exist to serve a growing number of YWAMers who are united by a common purpose - to see the Bible translated into every mother tongue, in this generation. We bring together a variety of perspectives and resources to build unity, honor and balance into our Bible translation movement.

As we embark on this journey, we not only honor our beloved founder, Loren Cunningham's grandest vision but also honor every visionary, scribe, translator, prayer worrior, and bible translation martyr. From the earliest translations of the Torah from Hebrew to Old Greek until today, each has poured their heart, soul, and sacrifice into ensuring the Word of God reaches every corner of the world in every tongue.
